J. G. Thomson & Co was originally a wine & spirits merchant based in Leith with roots dating back to the 18th century. The business occupied The Vaults in Leith, now home to The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. This historic name has now been re-born with a fantastic new range of spirits.

The 'Smoky' is a blend of 100% Islay malt whiskies matured in a range of American oak Pedro Ximénez butts & hogsheads, as well as ex-Bourbon hogsheads. The whisky was then blended through a solera system.

The Pedro Ximénez casks bring a richness and depth with ex-Bourbon barrels for sweetness and body - carefully selected to highlight the smokiness of the whisky in balance with rich spice and sweet fruit.
