This poster was was designed by the architects of The Port of Leith Distillery - Threesixty Architecture. Together, we are printing and selling this poster of a future landmark to support an existing one.
The Leith Theatre was built as a gift from the people of Edinburgh to the people of Leith following the amalgamation of the two administrations in 1920. It opened in 1929 and after recovering from bombing in WWII, it was used widely by the community until 1988 when it was closed and fell into disrepair. In 2004, the Leith Theatre Trust was formed with a view to reopening the venue, and after much persistence and determination, they succeeded in 2016.
The Theatre is now enjoying a magnificent renaissance as a music venue, and a great deal of work has been done to repair the building thanks to the resilience and know-how of Leith community members.
COVID-19 has stalled this re-birth, and the building has had to close its doors to conserve resources during the last year. We’re donating all the profits from the sale of our poster to help the through this time.
The Poster is printed in A1 dimensions (frame not included) and delivered in a cardboard tube for protection.
